He aha te mea nui o te ao? What is the most important thing in the world? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata? It is the people, it is the people, it is the people.

I was born and grew up in Hertfordshire in England. In 1985 I began my Nurse training and qualified in 1988 as a Registered Nurse Mental Handicap. My career continued within this field of care until 2001 when I took a career break to have my family.

Having a family influenced my husband to return to his childhood home of Gisborne and we arrived in 2006.

From then until August 2015 I worked at the Gisborne Volunteer Centre as their Co-ordinator.

Coming to join the Hospice Tairawhiti Team as the Volunteer Co-ordinator enables me to continue to promote and support the value and importance of volunteering and knits together my holistic view on Patient care and love of people.
