I was born in Portugal, but went to study in London when I was seventeen, and I remained there for 34 years.
In 2004, my partner and I visited Gisborne, fell in love with the place and decided to move here in June 2005.
In 2007, I joined the Gisborne Palliative Care Service as the volunteer coordinator, transferring to Administrative Assistant in 2012.
